by a cardiologist) at age 5. In lines where early-onset endocaridiosis prevails, similar recommendations may be made for Japanese
Chin. Otherwise, breeding animals in Cavalier, English Toy, or Chin breeding programs should be auscultated by a cardiologist at ages
3, 4, and 5. Any dog who has a mitral valve murmur prior to the age of 5 should probably not be used in breeding programs
